Danny Posted August 28, 2007 Share Posted August 28, 2007 This morning I received a very clever scam email regarding a domain name which I was told needed to be renewed or would expire in 90 days. The email was from http://www.domainrenewal-online.com which is genuine company based in Belgium. It looked very convincing indeed but of course, it is unsolicited email - SPAM - nevertheless. It is actually legitimate (i.e. is not illegal) but it is just not clear that you pay over the odds (first alarm bell) in US dollars (second alarm bell) to give them the authority to re register you domain for you. Most hosting companies charge less than 10 euros for this and will let you know when your domain name needs to be renewed. Wait until they contact you.
