Russethouse
I have been using Google Docs with a group and I would like to include others, but some people are having problems with access. I know in theory its 'online' but do you have to have Google Mail to use it successfully ?

Russethouse
I did a bit of digging and I thing it might be a browser problem. One of the team has a Mac and it doesn't support :IE 5 (Mac) or IE 4 (Windows) ,Safari , IE 6.0.26, Netscape 4 ,OperaNow I'm not sure what would be easy for them to download...Could be such a useful facility too......shucks....[:(][:(]
Pierre ZFP
I think Google Docs is brilliant and I use it a lot. I will say that everyone that I share docs with has Firefox and Google accounts so I've never had a problem.
Clair
This might help:
One of the coolest things about Google Docs is the way it enablesmultiple users in different locations to collaborate simultaneously onthe same project. This is what is meant by "collaboration." Forexample, when Alice in New York enters something into her document, spreadsheet or presentation, Meredith in Los Angeles can see thechanges in real time and respond to them immediately. Instead of havingto laboriously compare and consolidate their individual files, bothwomen edit a single document. Plus, editing is possible from anycomputer with Internet access, whether in an airport or at a cafe. While you can access and view a document without a Google Account (viaan invitation), you need to have a Google Account to continue accessingand to edit the document. If you already have a Google Account, simplysign in with your username/password combination and begin collaboratingwith Google Docs.

What is the difference between owners, collaborators, and viewers?Owners Can edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations, and invite more collaborators and viewers. Can delete documents, spreadsheets and presentations, and thereby remove access for collaborators and viewers. Please note: To fully delete a document, spreadsheet or presentation, and remove access to it, you must delete it and then Empty Trash. Collaborators Can edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Can invite or delete other collaborators and viewers (if the owner has given them permission). Can export a copy of the document, spreadsheet or presentations to their local hard drive. Viewers Can see the most recent version of a document, spreadsheet or presentation, but can't make any changes. Can export a copy of the document, spreadsheet or presentation to their local hard drive.Access with Google AccountsDocuments and spreadsheets: if they are published, or accessed by invitation, anyone can view them without a Google Account.Presentations: if they are published, anyone can view, but if a user is invited, a Google Account is needed.
