LNB`s the same for analoge and digital systems?

Recommended Posts

My new house has an old analogue sat system in order to get the normal French TV chanels (TF1, F2, F3, arte and M6). I fancy upgrading to a digital system to pick up free UK stations. Obviously, I will need a new box, but will I need to change the dish/LNB?

Thanks,

Dave.

Does the LNB have a label on it? If so, if it says 'Universal' then it should work ok with any digital receiver. As to the dish - if it's anything around the 60cm in size it should be fine - unless you live in the far south, then an 80 maybe better.

The only variant the French have had in living memory is a "tete Telecom" which was a Gallic LNB designed to allow older analogue boxes with limited I.F.tuning ranges to access the high frequencies required to pick up French TV from satellite (in those days the "Telecom" sats.)

As Timco says,  if your LNB says universal or 9.75/10.6 on it then you are fine,  apart from swinging the dish round.
