Fay
I am an AOL broadband customer in the UK and, until about mid-July this year, could also access AOL on dial-up at my house in France, paying about 3.95 euros p/h local phone rate. Suddenly this was no longer available - all the local call numbers disappeared and even the surcharged one didn't get through. There was just a message saying 'AOL is no longer available through this means'.I was working and needed to get back online urgently, so the quickest way was to sign up to Orange broadband, which means I now pay two subscriptions, the French one of which is money for nothing for weeks at a time.Did anyone else encounter this - it seems as if AOL have simply pulled the plug on the service? Thanks!Fay
AnOther
I think you're screwed, AOL have been looking to ditch dialup for some time. As this was about the one and only identifiable reason for anyone to continue using them, as painless as it may be, perhaps now is the perfect moment to reciprocate by dumping them. I believe AOL email addresses will still work afterwards but for how long who can say ?
