Théière
I was wondering, as I only use the internet in France occasionally and therefore not really needing either a landline telephone or permanent internet connection.Could I use a 3g data card on a pay as I use basis? Are the costs for downloading high and could I use it for skype?Over to the forum members for a reply.Thank you
Pierre ZFP
When I looked at this recently I could not find a 'PAYG' option in France. The monthly options were expensive, slow and coverage wasn't great. You could presumably have a dial-up account (limit 56K) but for that you would only pay for what you use
Théière
Sounds right Pierre ZFP, called in at the Skype desk at Stansted and they can do a mobile with Skype for £30 payg with £10 top up every 90 days, so long as your not in France. Most other European countries no problem. I thought things were looking up when I saw the advert for Iphone 3g, just have to wait a while. Don't want to go 56k as I was hoping for Skype. Pierre ZFP
You can use Skype downto 33K (voice only of course) but then if you factor in the cost of the dial-up line, are you actually winning by much?
Théière
Possibly if the system is only used 10 times a year at the moment. I will have to find out what the rate is for dayg (dial up as you go) [:D]
