GeoffBostock
We are planning to buy property in Limousin and let it out as a Gite. Are there any inspections required by the local tourist board (as there are for B&Bs in England) or can you just start advertising and taking bookings. I am thinking of either planning requirements, or making sure that the gite is of a satisfactory standard for letting.Geoff
Kira MKII
GeoffUnless you want to register it with Gites de France or agency - ferry company etc (which often provides some excellent contacts) there is no need for anyone to inspect your gite.I let mine out through the internet, there are some excellent sites which provide free advertising, so far I have had great responses but one party were a nightmare (look further down this forum at 'Vetting prospective rentals'.If you keep it simple & friendly you should be fine, make sure you have indemnity insurance on your house policy, cost me an extra 100FF - well worth the piece of mind!Any questions do get in touch!Kira
