Ysatis
Hi all.In our area the telephone numbers usually start with 05 ** ** ** **, I have a number that starts with 09 ** ** ** **.Could the 09 number be a premium rate number?Regards,
Clair
The 05 (or 01, 02, 03, 04) prefix used to indicate a broad region in the days when FT had the telephone monopoly. Now that virtual numbers are available from VOIP companies like Neuf or Free, ARCEP (in charge of the regs) has decreed that their prefix would be 09 7x xx xx xx.The cost to your number would depend on the operator used by the caller, but should be low. Martin963
In no way disagreeing with your post Clair, but not all VOIP numbers are 09. Our Club Internet number was indeed an 09 prefix, but our Alice number (which is additional to our landline number) begins 05, as does the landline. Clair
I agree Martin, my Neuf number also starts with 05, but only because I asked them to take it over from FT when I migrated. As I understand it, Free has reserved all 09 7 numbers, but I might be wrong there.Details here: http://www.journaldufreenaute.fr/10/10/2006/un-nouveau-numero-pour-la-telephonie-sip-et-wifi.htmlhttp://www.comparatel.fr/news/dnews_id-5957_t-Des,numeros,commencant,par,09,pour,le,haut,debit,et,la,convergence.htm
Martin963
Yes it's odd. I have always been determined to keep my landline separate from my ADSL VOIP provider, and was therefore surprised when our allocated Alice number was an 05 and not 09 like Club Internet. So we've ended up with two 05 prefix's..
