Pierre ZFP
I don't think it has been widly reported but on 15th March, European Directive 2006/24/EC comes into force.Nothing too remarkable in that except this one affects just about every one of us.It requires Internet Service Providers (ISP) to retain details of every email and message that passes through their hands all in the name of security and 'The T word'I got bogged down in the wording of the actual directive but there's a pretty good summery on Wikkihttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telecommunications_data_retentionI know it's the cry of legislators that 'If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear' but given the track record of goverments I just don't trust trust them to keep the data secure or not misuse it.1984 was 25 years ago. The timing was a little bit off but we got there in the end.

In typical French bureaucratic style they might insist it is our responsibility to keep copies of our emails for 10 years at least.Sue
