Philouis
Could anyone inform me of the cost of electricity for running a desktop computer for one hour. I leave mine on all day and I wonder if this could be costing me dearly.
tenniswitch
Too many variables. Why don't you do what I do when I want to know what my electric radiators are costing: turn off as many other appliances as possible, run the computer and its peripherals for a couple of hours and see how much your meter's moved? Then do the same with the computer and peripherals OFF.
BJSLIV
Off the top of my head, assuming a standard PC with an LCD screen which goes into standby when not in use, I wouldn't expect you to average much more than 150 watts per hour.So assuming that the machine was on 12 hours per day that would be 2Kw per day. Say 20p per day. Try this calculatorhttp://www.eu-energystar.org/en/en_007c.shtml
