Martin963
This press release http://www.eutelsat.com/fr/news/communiques-presse.htmldetails yet another way to enjoy French TV in the run up and beyond digital switch over.As I predicted somewhere in here http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/2/1487128/ShowPost.aspx#1487128, it will not be free to air, just like TNTparSat (from Canalsat) you'll need a dedicated box and card, ie "free to view".However, good to have some competition for TNTparSat and it's slightly cheaper. And very easy for the many homes with analogue AB3 dishes on 5 deg W. brianagain
From the press release "le bouquet FRANSAT™ sera accessible sans abonnement aux seuls foyers résidant en France métropolitaine." In other words restricted to viewers in France only - I wonder if this means they will not be as easily available in the big electrical stores / hypermarkets as is the case with TNT Sat receivers currently (no proof of place of residence is required at the check out).Brian (again)
Martin963
Well we thought at the outset that TNTparSat would be heavily regulated in that sense, but no-one batted an eyelid at the two I bought, no questions asked, and a number have been imported into Britain (according to Digital Spy) by various means.TBH I suspect overworked grandes-surfaces told TNTparSat where they could put their territorial regulations and worries, and one could hope the same thing happens in this instance. It flouts EU law to restrict sales of sat boxes/cards to individual countries within the EU. It's time that the EU stood up to the rights holders and championed the advantages of television across frontiers.
