nigt
We are being offered this service in our community. Apparently its called WIMAX and the ISP is TSG-LGTEL. Prices show we could have double our current low speed of .5MB for approximately the same price as our current conventional line based system. I will be attending a presentation in our local salle but would appreciate any comments as I guess the supplier will concentrate on the benefits. Thanks
Théière
No personal experience but our friends use something very similar in very rural Spain and would not be without it.
Pierre ZFP
Is this really the satellite version or the one where a great big radio signal is broadcast from a radio tower in your commune?I either case, upload is usually via your phone line at a slow speed, not a problem unless you do a lot a uploads (or on-line gaming) but there may well be a hefty cost associated with this.I would question carefully what the download limits are, some of these outfits offer only a miserly 3Gb per month.Do you need to rent/buy/install equipment for this service? If so, how much?To be honest I would rather go for the GPRS Dongle option from say Bouygtel, uncapped downloads at €39 per month, if you can get the signal in your area of course
