nephilim
Hi all,Been using my Freebox (v4) quite happily for about 3 years using xp, now I have Vista on the pc it doesn't seem to recognise the box, in xp it would recognise as a plug and play and ask for the install disc, but nothing like that with Vista. If I put the installation disc in it doesn't like it, some kind of 'access denied' message. If anyone has got it working or know how I would love to hear, thanks. Danny
how are you connecting the PC with the freebox?USB cable (white cable), ethernet cable (yellow cable) or wifi (wireless = no cable!) ?Ethernet cable is easiest as you do not need to install anything.Have you tried connecting the cable and then restarting your PC?Danny
Danny
I just reread your post and from your mention of plug and play, I assume that you have been using the USB cable. If you have an ethernet port on the PC, then use that instead. It does not need any disc to install drivers from and the transfer of data is quicker than USB too.Danny
nephilim
Thanks for that, I have got a nic card on the pc but it has never worked, never looked into that really. The only option at present is via usb but it wont recognise it or the install disk.
AnOther
I really would sort that out and get connected over ethernet, far easier and as Danny says, no need for bloatware to be installed [;-)]Hopefully just a driver issue and easily sorted but PCI ethernet cards are cheap if it came to it. Danny
If you really can't get your ethernet working, you may find the USB driver from this page works for your freeboxhttp://www.touslesdrivers.com/index.php?v_code=18382&v_page=23click on the little picture next to telechargement.save it to your desktop and run the file.Danny
nephilim
Thanks very much guys, the usb driver worked a treat, I did try to find something online but came up with nothing, thanks again. And yes, I must get the ethernet working one day - I'll add it to the list........
