French dongle

Hi everyone

Some friends who are only out in France for a few weeks each time have just purchased a dongle and have installed it on to their computer, they were able to get internet but the skype connection was hopeless - broke up and cut off almost immediately.

Problem number 2 they went on to try and add credit but came up against - put in your telephone ligne number.  Did my friends misss this when they were installking? and is there any way they can retrieve this without presumanly having to un-install and then re-install.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated I am sure.
