andyh4
Having recently bought a Humax box to link up to a Sony flatscreen, I am now suffering problems with volume control. With a scart lead everything works as expected, but with the HDMI cable connected the volume levels are much reduced and on the HD channels volumes are reduced again. Has anyone any ideas? Martin963
This has come up recently elsewhere and is something to do with the way some channels are flagging the sound parameters. This extract from a private chat area might helpIt's certainly noticeable how the audio levels jump around on BBC HD.> > This is my understanding of the situation:> > The HD channels carry some programmes with stereo audio and others with> Dolby 5.1 audio. As Paul has said, the BBC observes a different (lower)> reference level for 5.1 audio. This means that on the HD services some> programmes are quieter than others and results in some ludicrous> sounding programme junctions, which I have complained to the BBC about.> > The BBC have claimed that this only affects some HD receivers, so make> of that what you will.I don't know if it's relevant, but when I asked Humax why the volume controlof the Foxsat HDR doesn't work on the BBC HD channels the answer was:HI there, Regarding the volume issues on HD, it seems the TV has a built in Dolbydecoder. This needs to be disabled through a setting on the TV in order tocorrect this issue. Many Thanks,
