tonyv
I have a phone connected to my livebox, which rings at random. Sometimes once a day, sometimes once a week. If I pick up, it's just a dead line; if I leave it, it gives up after 6 rings or so. CLID just says 'out of area'.This is annoying; does anyone have any hints on stopping it. Quillan
It could be something far more simpler. In France they are allowed to use computerised dialing for telesales. This means the computer dials a number and when the person picks the phone up there should be somebody trying to sell them something. Unfortunately it can get out of sync so your phone rings and there is nobody there and of course you can't see a number. We have this from time to time, its very annoying. Just to say I have never had any of the issues mentioned in the link given, perhaps I am lucky. The six rings means it goes to the messengerie (voicemail or answerphone if you wish), you can extend the number of rings through your user account on the Orange website. tonyv
Thanks all; I shall investigate both suggestions, although initial reading of the TF thread suggests the second is the most likely <sigh>.
