Quillan
Do we know if C4 has moved yet? I ask this because it was due to move on the 1st Nov (as stated earlier on in another post), if it has everything is working fine down here.
Martin963
According to http://fr.kingofsat.net/pos-28.2E.phpCH 4 HD is still on both Eurobird and 1N. As to whether Sky boxes have been "instructed" to look for the 1N signal in preference to the Eurobird version I don't know as I don't have a Sky HD box.AFAIK it's only ch 4 HD that is concerned, I don't think channel 4 standard definition is going anywhere (but I don't know for certain). But certainly no-one seems to be having any trouble with the 1N version in France. pachapapa
On the same transponder as C4 HD the Sky UK mpeg4/HD shows up as free to air on the LyngSat website. Is this a temporary feature or will it eventually be encrypted?I presume that C4 HD is like Sky in DVB-S2!http://www.lyngsat.com/astra1n.html
Quillan
So are we saying for the time being that 1N is for HD TV and normal TV will stay where it is which is why nothing has changed for me?
Martin963
AFAIK Yes Quillan - at least as far as Channel 4 is concerned..Reports that 2D was going to be turned off and services transferred to 1N were premature. What's needed is MORE spot beam capacity (which 1N provides) and the most pressing "sailing close to the wind" item as far as rights holders are concerned is Channel 4 HD on Eurobird. Many people were hoping for a rush of new freesat channels as soon as 1N was on the air, but for the moment this doesn't seem to be happening. Although it's likely that more will appear over the next few months. But there's no reason why 1N will only do HD and 2D only SD. As far as definition is concerned the two sats are interchangeable. So expect more SD channels on 1N as well as HD ones.
