Hoddy
Something weird going on Pierre. I can't get Radio 4 this morning on the computer. This is my second attempt to reply to you and the first time this page just disappeared and went to the BBC is unavailable page.
Pierre ZFP
Well it seems the BBC is downJust got this from my Uber Geek sonhttp://www.isitdownrightnow.com/bbc.co.uk.htmlI can only assume that the BBC support staff are running around like headless chickens!I wonder what change they implemented this morning? Hoddy
It's not just the radio. I searched for James Martin's treacle tart recipe which is on the BBC Good Food site and it won't give me that either.
Pierre ZFP
Well at least they had the good grace to wait until the Test Match had finished [:-))]

nomoss
Maybe their top technical people are fleeing from the cuts along with their top presenters and news staff.
woolybanana
Reported in the Guardian but not much detail:http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2015/dec/31/bbc-suffers-widespread-outages-taking-website-and-iplayer-offlineBy the way, the BBC is not suffering cuts, it is just learning to live reasonably and concentrate on making programmes and not chucking money down the drain on the periphery which includes top heavy management cardes and the rest. Judith
BBC lunchtime news just said they was hacked - all back up now, apparently, though I've not checked.
Pierre ZFP
The Independent says it was a DDoS which makes more sense than hackingNo doubt we will see soon .....
Judith
Pierre, Yes, so I heard later - but as far as we non-tecchies are concerned it's the same thing .... but much easier to sort, it seems. Back to normal now I think.
Jonzjob
Well, it's got to be very strange for us at the mo. It's a case of now ya see it now ya don't. We have Aunty Beeb set up as our home site and it's on favourites. Sometime we click on it on the favourites and it appears OK and other times it tells us that "the connection was reset" and to try again.I have it up on 2 tabs on Firefox at the moment. One of them came up with the BBC site OK and the other with the connection was reset page, it failed. Try it again on the original tab and it's OK. On the failed tab it failed again. Tried again and it's OK [:-))][8-)]We normally put our MacBook Pro into sleep mode unless it's going to be left for more than a day. We rebooted it today to see if that could be part of the problem, but it made no difference. Is anyone else still having problems???
Hereford
Yes we are Jonzjob - identical to yours. The first and second time we click on our BBC tab a message says "connection reset", click a third time ands the site comes up as normal. We too use Firefox.Odd indeed
Jonzjob
I'm glad that they aren't just picking on us Hereford [:D]I tried it on Safari as well with the same result.
sid
Similar problem here, only since the website was DDOS'd, I'm using W10 and either IE11 or Edge and I get a message "Hmm, we can't reach this page" from Edge, or "This page can't be displayed" from IE11, but a refresh then brings it up. Happening with the news and sports pages which are the only two I link to directly.I wondered if they had somehow slugged it in an attempt to prevent a recurrence of the last trouble, just checking, friend or foe!
