Young Braque Allemand (German Pointer) north Deux-Sèvres

Recommended Posts

I have just had a call from the Mairie of a town in north Deux-Sèvres (Thouars area) saying they have a young male Braque Allemand since several months which was found without any identity and unclaimed.  He urgently needs a good home as they no longer want to take care of him and he has to leave the mairie quickly.

I have asked if they can send a photo of him, but they have to ask if the person responsible is willing to go to that much trouble as they would like the dog to now be taken away !

Apparently he is a "marron glacé colour, sort of liver or chocolate, not the brown and white one, of which here is a photo as an example of what he probably looks like.

I do so hope someone is able to take this lovely dog in.  I rescued a GSP nearly seven years ago now.  She is not the easiest of dogs because she came to me at about a year old, completely unsocialised but she has made loads of progress.  They are a very affectionate breed but are also very active.  My Mossie sits indoors like a coiled spring, although she has calmed down over the years.  However she is also a good and faithful companion and an excellent guard dog.  Also, look at the picture, they are just the most gorgeous looking breeds with stunning silky coats.  Sadly I can't take him, I have three dogs and feel that is as much as I can cope with at present but I can't recommend the breed highly enough.  They are also clever and quick to learn.  I really hope he finds a good, loving home.

The man at the kennel kindly got him out for a game to take some more photos.

He must be very young by those big feet (the dog I mean) !
