Dog Lost near Le Havre

Recommended Posts

On Thursday 10th July, at around 16.00hours, we were travelling towards Le Havre in our motorhome.

We saw a small poodle (may have been a cross breed) light brown to pale apricot in colour, walking along the hard shoulder section. Each side of the A131/N82 was very busy, three lanes on each side.

We stopped at a junction (Ibelieve it may have been the Gonfreville-L'Orcher entrance) and tried to rescue the dog.

It was very frightened and as  we were doing so, a French couple in a VW stopped to help.

Unfortunately, the dog bolted and crossed all three lanes to the other side, eventually standing on the opposite hard shoulder leaving Le Havre.

The French couple drove off the road and re-entered in the opposite direction and we tried tofollow suit. It was difficult for us to read the signs but we managed to get to the other side, but could not see the dog.

We had to abandon, as we were creeping for some time along the busy road.

If you saw this incident, we would like to hear from you. Alternatively, if anyone can post a useful suggestion as to how we cen telephone, email or otherwise get in touch with any authorities or welfare groups in the area, please let us know, urgently.

We will follow up, and if need be take the necessary steps to rehome this animal (provided that it is still alive of course).

Any advice much appreciated[I]

Thanks in advance
