WJT
Here are a sample of a few dogs waiting for a loving family to finally notice them. Sorry for the terrible photos. The Bergerac SPA is directly across from the refurbished Intermarché on the Saint Alvere route leading out of Bergerac. You can hardly make it out but it is a beautiful Rotweiler. This little guy or girl was very unhappy and stressed. He or she looks very wet and was crying a lot when I was there.Terrible photos I know and sorry about showing the mess in the cage. But these two were so lovely. They were in the back of the kennels that I almost missed with other dogs of course I couldn't even see. But the little red one was starving for attention he/she just trembled with excitement when I stroked him/her.
Christine Animal
How sad it always makes you feel, but we can all do something. The one with the red flea collar looks a good young one for somebody.Do you know anything about number 14 WJT ? Surely someone could get that poor litle thing out. valB
Oh My Gosh !!! How awful and I agree with you Christine, the poor little one in cage 14 it looks so scared. I cannot do anything at present as my old cocker lady is not too brilliant and it would be the wromg time to introduce another dog but how my heart bleeds for them all. Christine Animal
I have a couple in the Marais Poitevein near Niort whose little dog died. They are looking for a female, must be female, Bichon or Caniche or cross, must be white not black, up to three years old. I wonder if number 14 would suit. WJT
Christine, unfortunately I don't know anything about little 14. I must say there was another adorable little black one right next to this one. I took several photos of poor 14 because he/she was crying so much and was obviously stressed.I can try to find out more tomorrow if you would like. Framboise
This is all so sad. Tragic even. I really do hope some lovely new families come along for these poor dogs.
WJT
Hi Christine, I just spoke to the SPA and little 14 is a little boy. She said he is between two and three years old. She said she knew nothing about him other than he had been abandoned. But he is available for adoption now. There was someone interested in him so she called the person to find out if they were going to adopt him or not before telling me for certain he is available and unfortunately they are not interested.[:(]
Christine Animal
Thank you for the info WJT. Unfortunately he won't interest the people I mentioned. There is a beautiful little grey Poodle at Niort, but a male, and they said it must be a female. That little face over the door.

val douest
Christine - I don't know if this little one would suit the couple you mentioned. I just came across her on the website this morning and have no idea if she is still available but she's young, white and female and seems to be mostly caniche. The reference is http://www.secondechance.org/animal/show/id/24702.Val
Christine Animal
Thanks very much for that Val. I've left a message with them to see if she's still available. The photos are from June so maybe she's been adopted. Many thanks. Edit : She has been adopted Val.

Pauline
I check the forum every night before I go to bed here in the UK and I hold my breath hoping someone has rescued 14, I keep saying I wont look again because its so upsetting, I wish I had already moved to France so I could adopt the poor little thing to play happily with my 2 Bichons. I really hope someone comes along soon, its heartbreaking.

Gail Smith
I went to get 'Charlie' as I have temporarily called him this morning and he is adorable. He is 2-3 years old and a Bichon cross Poodle. In the car he was perfectly behaved and lay down in the foot well and just went to sleep. He was not sick or anything which is more than I can say for my own dogs! He stank a bit when we got him home so he had a hair cut and a bath. He is very gentle and is playing with my little dogs and has settled down well. The first pic is him before his bath and you can see all the hair on his back end was totally matted. I had to use the clippers on it and so he is a bit shaved around his hind end nowHere he is sitting in my kitchen window after his bath and watching the world go by.We have all been for a walk this evening after tea and he was very good although we kept him on a very long lead just in case. He is getting the idea of coming when he is called and loves a cuddle and fuss.He did bark a bit at my horse but soon got over it. Tomorrow I will introduce him to the goats/sheep and chickens. If anyone is interested in rehoming him then we are in Northern Dordogne between Riberac and Perigueux.Gail
Gail Smith
Perhaps I should clarify that I have not adopted 'Charlie' myself as I already have 3 dogs rescued from the SPA. I cant take on a fourth on a full time basis but I do foster whilst dogs find the right person to live with.I just wanted you all to know that this lovely little dog will make a brilliant pet and if you can or know someone who can give him a loving home then contact me.Gail
Christine Animal
Lovely photos Gail and such a sweet little boy. It's so good to see him in those surroundings. He seems to have come out of it all very well, is very well behaved and adapts easily. With his wonderful gentle little character someone will surely offer him a good home. Many thanks for everything. WJT
Yes, well done for Gail. What a wonderful thing you did by going and getting him out. [kiss][kiss]He is just the most adorable little thing. If I lived there permanently I would take him in a minute. How can anyone resist that little face and his sweet loving character. Fingers crossed that someone soon will offer this little fellow the loving home he deserves.
Pauline
Oh Gail thank goodness you came along I can sleep better at night now, I hope a lovely family take him home soon. Like I said earlier if we had sold our house and moved to France already I would love to have him he would get on well with my 2 bichons.Pauline[:D]
Nick Williams
I just thought i'd let you know that a friend pointed us to this website at the weekend. We went over to Bergerac SPA today and adopted the occupant of cage 08. A beautiful (albeit neglected) natured girl who I'm sure will become an important member of our family. Its a shame we couldn't take more but we already have 1 mad hound! [:)] If you are after a dog, I strongly recommend you vist the SPA first. Thanks Shelley and Nads for pointing us here!! Christine Animal
Awww, that's wonderful Nick. Thank you so much for letting us know. WJT you have now saved two dogs and made room for two more!Nick, if you have a photo, we would love to see your number 08. [:)] [kiss]
