The previous owner of our house used one of our barns to repair and restore old cars with his BiL. He lined it completely with polythene sheeting, putting in a kind of false ceiling of batons and plastic. Thus there is a dust/dropping free barn, and the birds come and go and live happily above it. The only downside is that our cats have discovered how to get up there, but there's little one can do about that except to try to minimise their access a bit!
