I'm so angry with myself............

I've just been in the garden tool shed and having to struggle to get the sliding door open found that as it opened I have disturbed a nest that was in the rafters above the door. It fell to the floor smashing the two eggs inside.

Is there any point in trying to put the nest back ?

oh, so sorry - I woould be hopping mad with myself too - but it wasn't your fault. Arghhhh. it certainly would do no harm to put the nest back - perhaps a few inches away where it won't come to any harm. the owners will probably do the natural thing and lay again, still early enough. Bonne chance

Without knowing what the birds in question are it's a bit difficult, but as a general rule in that situation putting the nest back would be a waste of time. Nothing prevents you trying it though, just don't be too expectant.

The eggs Chris were a whitish shell, about 15 - 20 mm long with light brown, almost orange speckles if that helps.

Quite a forgiving bird that isn't too bothered by human activity, so in with half a chance.
