Frederick
Dont point your cameras at any wild animals ....They have a right to their privacy .... according to leading academic !.... Now I know where the education cuts need to be made after the election ! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1269932/Filming-animals-wild-breach-privacy.html
Swissie
Sounds far fetched and ridiculous, I agree. And yet - there are species which are particularly sensitive about privacy, especially at mating and giving birth time - and disturbance can lead to failure to reproduce, killing or abandoning cubs, even madness. Some wildlife photographers go to extremes to get a good picture to sell or compete with. Here in the Jura for instance, capercaillie cocks are extremely territorial and sensitive around their mating 'dancing/displaying' areas - and will attack. Several cases of 'madness' have been well documented - and the whole species is at risk due to many factors - not just over zealous photographers! other cultprits are much worse, like snowmobiles, etc.
