Rouky, the Cocker Spaniel - can anyone offer him a new home???? (Cahors, 46)

Recommended Posts

This is Rouky - a cocker spaniel, about 12 years old.  His story - another abandon and then a close shave with a final visit to the vet!!  Someone picked him up wandering in a village near Cahors and took him to a local vet.  From there he was collected by the fourrière and brought to the Refuge in Cahors.  No ID and, sad to say, no-one came looking for him.  As he was old, was not eating and was vomiting (who wouldn’t under the circumstances!) - the fourrière decided to have him euthanased.  If it had not been for a Refuge volunteer coming forward immediately to foster him - well, it was the end of the line for poor Rouky.  Just in the nick of time his foster mum stepped forward!!

Rouky has since picked up tremendously with some TLC and has some happy days ahead of him in his golden years!  He is a docile and sociable old chap, just happy to potter.  His foster mum says he is quite “dynamique” for his age!  He loves a trot in the woods, his naps on the sofa, or even the bed!  He would love to find a quiet home where he can happily enjoy his “retirement”.  Not an escape artist, just pleased to have a nice, calm routine and take things easy.

By the way, Rouky is eating fine now and can be quite a greedy guts (not unusual for Cocker Spaniels!).

Rouky is now micro chipped (250269500435970) and vaccinated.

Could anyone offer Rouky a permanent home to enjoy the rest of his twilight years??  He will remain with his foster mum and her partner until he is adopted.  But, as they give a lot of voluntary help to the Refuge, they would like to see him find a permanent home as soon as possible, to free them to help other Refuge dogs.  (They were very tempted to keep him, he is adorable!)

Please get in touch, we can arrange transport if need be for Rouky.

Here is Rouky when was brought in by the fourrière…

We can most definitely confirm everything written about Rouky - he is ADORABLE - lovely calm nature.

He accompanied his foster family when they visited us recently - to see our new adoptees, Alie & Baba in their new home.

If we didn't now have 5 dogs, Rouky could easily have stayed with us.

Older dogs are often less demanding and just want to be part of a loving family.

It was very hard to let him leave, knowing the odds he faced on being adopted at his age.

Meantime, however, we know he is with a wonderful foster family.

I'm sure anyone who meets Rouky will be smitten by him on first contact !!

[:D][:D][:D]Fantastic news for Rouky! He has now been adopted and has gone off to enjoy life in the countryside of the Limousin. So far so good, he has behaved impeccably!

His new owners say he is a sweety and they are so pleased to welcome him into their family.  Many, many thanks to them for coming so far to get Rouky - he

is a very lucky old boy!

We look forward to more news on how he is settling in and perhaps some

photos soon!
