Blind Setter pup left tied to the Refuge fence!! ADOPTED!

Recommended Posts

This poor little chap was found tied to the fence at the front of the Refuge in Cahors!!!

He is only 4 months old, has had a tick borne disease - which may be the reason he is BLIND.  He has only just been taken in, so no name yet.  He will be vaccinated and micro chipped.  He is an intelligent little dog and with the right training, he will be fine with owners who perhaps have another sociable dog to help him adjust.  He can hear and use his sense of smell to overcome his lack of sight.

If you can offer him the special home he needs, please get in touch.  He is currently in a foster home, but will be able to leave for a new home on Saturday, 27 October.

Sweety (as we have called him) still needs a new home asap!  Tomorrow he will be vaccinated and micro chipped.  Then a Refuge volunteer will foster him next week - but after that??

Please get in touch if you can offer Sweety a new home (he will do best with at least one other dog as a companion/guide).  His blindness will not be a problem - he will quickly learn to cope.  He is just waiting for his chance to join a family of his own... are you that family?

Update - Sweety is now micro chipped (250 268 710 288 304), vaccinated and has been wormed.  The good news is that the vet has said she believes now that he may have some vision!  He is settling well in his temporary foster home - has met the cats without problem and is confidently getting used to his new surroundings.  His foster mum says he is adorable, affectionate, intelligent and quick to learn.

Here's Sweety in his foster home....

He is totally blind in one eye, and perhaps has some partial vision in one eye.  He is otherwise fit and well, a happy pup, investigating everything around him.  Just needs that special home!  (Looks like there may be a bit of Setter in him!)

Sweety has now gone to a new foster home temporarily but he needs a loving new forever home as soon as possible.  We are doing all that is possible to avoid him coming into the Refuge.

Please get in touch if you can offer Sweety a home and for further information on how we can help you to do so.

(By the way, Sweety is a Setter rather than a Brittany.)

Thanks

More news soon on how he is getting on.

A huge thank you to everyone (and there are many of you!) who have tried to help this pup find a home....  and a massive thanks to his new family.
