Patf
We have to take one of our dogs to the vets for her rabies jab nextweek and I'mdreading it as she gets very travel sick. It's only a tenminute drive but you can be sure she will be sick at least twice on theway there and twice on the way back . I've tried pills which the vetgave me but no difference. Any suggestions? Catalpa
If you do a search on here or on totalfrance (keywords probably dog+car+sick!) you'll turn up lots of info on how to gradually get your dog used to car travel. Two quick tips from me:- don't feed the animal before you travel - I'd allow at least 4 hours in between food and a car journey.- buy a beanbag bed. If it is very well 'stuffed' let some beans out to make it a bit sloppier. Get the dog used to it before the journey or put a dog blanket on top of it. Try and ensure the dog will have to lie on the beanbag to travel rather than be able to move around the back of the car. It appears that the beanbag absorbs the motion of the car and makes travelling more comfortable for the dog. You could also try getting some of the anti-slip matting for the back of the car - I think part of the problem with dogs feeling ill is the difficulty they have with keeping their balance when going around bends etc. The anti-slip stuff under - or on top - of a beanbag is very effective. Good luck. [:)]
Benjamin
As a quick fix for next weeks visit why not walk? Ten minute drive = 30 minute walk.Benjamin
Patf
Some good ideas Catalpa and will try to do a search. Benjamin - goodidea to walk but it would take a bit longer than half an hour, andthere several serious hills on the way . Husband did the walk once andit took about 2 hours. It's about 14km. Pat.
