ali-cat
Can anyone please let me know how their cats got on with a sea journey? Sorry to sound like a total idiot, but we are about to book our 3, with an animal courier, from Belfast to England to France by sea & I'm worried sick. Mark says I'm not to worry or fret about them - but I can't stop!! Has anyone done a sea crossing with cats?! Please let me know how they got on - if there had been any problems - or if you think it would be better to have them flown over?I think I might have to change my name to "getting myself into a terrible state @ ards" [:(]Thank you. Gardian
Ali ...............First of all, you are doing the right thing by using a professional courier. I'm not saying that it can't be done (carrying them yourselves), but you'll have 1001 other things to think about re the move.We consigned two 16 yo cats to a professional outfit who took them away 2 days before we moved out. They'd never been in kennels before, let alone transported on aeroplanes! A week later (and two days after we had moved in down here), they were delivered to Montpellier airport. No problems. They were doubtless a bit frightened, ****** off, etc, etc, but they were never going to die.Hand them over to the pro's. Try to forget about them en route. Pick them up at the other end: it'll be fine. They'll be (slightly) pleased to see you when you pick them up and blame you for a while, but that's cats. Then you can start worrying about all the things they catch or attack them once they're down here. Will
No problems at all (with five cats) on a 6-hour sea crossing and a total of about three hours on the road either side. One didn't like the first road part of the journey very much but was more accommodating for the second part.
ali-cat
Thanks, Will & Ian (although I could have done without the last bit, Ian!! [:-))] ),I know they will be ok - I'm a "worse possible case " thinker, when it comes to my "babies". I really will have enough to do, without worring about them. Packing 9 guitars, two telescopes & Mark into 3 tea chests, for starters!
Poppy
We transported our cats ourselves on a five hour ferry crossing and a ten hour road journey. Everything was great. We obviously had to leave the cats in the car on the ferry and I was worried sick but the ferry company escorted me a couple of times during the trip to check the cats were OK. Both times they were fast asleep. We still have the ferry tickets which show 2 Adults + 2 Cats. Still makes us smile[:D]
Pads
we lived on a boat for 8 years with 4 cats, and apart from the usual grass induced hewy, they never even noticed, unless we moored up back to front and they jumped off the wrong side, but thats another story[Www]
