vab
We have just rehomed an adorable Labrador only one year old. Very obedient within the home but a little bit naughty when out on his lead, especially if he sees or hears other dogs. He only wants to play but seems to go totally deaf and jumps around like a lunatic....Bless !!!! Are there any training centres that we can attend with him near Lezay/Melle. Renaud
One year old labs are a bit bouncy and fun (they are kids) but they calm down as they grow up. Learning to walk on a lead is important, sitting before crossing the road is a good habit, (the dog not you). My own belief is that it is best to walk them off the lead as much as possible - depending on the amount of interesting livestock about - and get them to socialise with other dogs whenever possible. vab
Thanks for your advice. He will sit for his biscuit or his chewy sticks but outside he is mental. Walking off a lead is a No No as even in the garden he is contantly looking for an escape route. He was abandoned and has obviously had a taste of freedom until he went into the rescue centre but I am sure he will settle down in time. We have rescued Boxer dogs in the past and in comparison he is quite easy. We will persevere with the outside training and eventually it will sink in and we know he just wants to play with every dog around as he not aggresive in any way. Once again.....Thanks
