Patf
Our cat gave birth today - she's not meant to be a pet, really for killing mice, but wangled her way in. She is cosily established in a laying box in the henhouse with her babies. The problem is that her grownup son has regressed and is now also suckling. Should I take him away? Will the babies suffer if he stays? Pat.
Nettie
Yes I'd take him away, he has no need to suckle and your cat will produce enough milk for the new kits but not for some grown up gullump to have a snack as well. I'm surprised she hasn't told him where to go though.
