triciajh
I'm so sad this morning. Yesterday my beautiful Golden Retriever Toffee had to be put to sleep-she has gone to Rainbow Bridge. She was almost 15 and we have had her since she was 6 weeks old. She was a wonderful dog, perfect in every way and will be so sorely missed. I held her in my arms as she peacefully slipped away. She had tumours and been getting weaker the last couple of weeks so we had to let her go before she started suffering. There is an ache in my heart ,I see her everywhere I look.My other dogs are missing her too and are much quieter than usual. We will scatter her ashes in the woods which she loved so much. Framboise
Let me be first to say how sad I feel for you. Losing a dear old friend is awful, yet perhaps in a while you may think of taking one of the needy souls we see on the Forum looking for a kind loving family home? That is what we shall do when the inevitable happens to our old lad of 12 - I just hope he makes it to France to enjoy some time there before he leaves us. Christine Animal
So sorry Tricia. Toffee shared your life for a long time, it's always so sad. They will not go quietly, the pets who've shared our lives. In subtle ways they let us know their spirit still survives. Old habits still can make us think we hear them at the door. Or step back when we drop a tasty morsel on the floor. Our feet still go around the place the food dish used to be, And, sometimes, coming home at night, we miss them terribly. And although time may bring new friends, and a new food dish to fill, That one place in our hearts belongs to them... and always will. Fiona
So sorry for you Tricia. I know exactly what you are going through. Toffee will now be running around in the other forest pain free! It is VERY hard to be there but at least you held her and as she looked at you with trust and love she was also grateful for the wonderful life she has had with you. Take Care - Our thoughts are with you.

Rob Roy
Tricia, I'm so sorry and can appreciate how you feel. We brought two labs (brothers) from the UK 7 years ago and one of them died just over two years ago. His brother pined terribly for him, to the point where I thought he would also died of a broken heart. We found him a companion (as it happened another lab whom we rehomed) and it gave him a new lease of life, so I can understand how your other dogs are feeling. Jet, our old boy, is still with us, but at 14 years of age it can't be many more years before he also leaves us and I dread the day.Christine, why do you keep making me cry with all these poignant poems you give us! Rose
Tricia also just wanted to say I am so sorry for your loss. Our pets become part of our families and we love them so much... it's hard when they go. At least you were with her and could hold her and help her on her new adventure - take care x

Each one is so special and you feel as if part of you is missing when they leave you.My O.H. has framed a beautiful photo of her when she was sun-bathing in the garden with the other dogs, that's how I want to remember her,not herlastfew days. As my oldest son said-she had a very happy, long life. Thanks again to you allTricia
