benh1965
Very sadly our beautiful English Springer Herbie passed away yesterday. Both I and the family are distraught as he was so much a part of our life and had been a gret companion over 13 and a half years. We are looking to home either one or two spaniels as we love the breed and would like to offer a home if anyone knows of any spaniels looking for a good home. We are based in the lot-et-garonne and have 1.3 hectared of land for the dog/s to frolic in and are surrounded by countryside. If you know of any out there please let us know as I am sure it would help the lonelyness created by Herbies absence!Thankyou in advanceBenPost edited by a moderator, please do not post personal contact details on the forum. Christine Animal
I am very sorry to hear about Herbie and it is very generous and kind of you to think of offering a home to others at such a hard time.Perhaps you could contact Poor Paws to see what they have http://www.poorpaws.com/Otherwise I found this lovely seven year old chap, Punch, who has spent two years at the refuge and his case looks rather urgent. They say he is very loving and gentle. It is not your area, but a covoiturage can be organised. I can help with the French in case of need.http://rescue.forumactif.com/adultes-males-f62/punch-springer-spaniel-7-ans-13-t153745.htm?highlight=springer Is it a Springer you would like or any sort of Spaniel as there are certainly plenty of others? Christine Animal
I have just reread the thread about Punch and it looks as if there are two of them, both playful and very friendly no fault dogs. I had not seen, Piago has been adopted, but it looks as if Punch is still there.http://rescue.forumactif.com/les-adoptes-et-sortis-d-affaire-f23/piago-springer-anglais-cocker-male-7-ans-dpt-13-t150964.htm?highlight=piago
benh1965
Christine,Thank you so much and Punch looks so much like Herbie! In reality we would prefer a younger dog which I knows sounds mercenary but bearing in mind we have lost one of 13 years i would rather not be to near the older dog ae. However if there is a photo of the two I would like to consider. Thanks again,Ben
benh1965
Hi again Chrisitne,Just so you know we are ideally looking for english springers as we know the breed and they are terrific dogs. Punch is a lovely looking chap and it makes me so sad to know he has been in a rescue for two years! Personally I would take him but I know my wife is more realistic than me and feels that younger would be better due to the fact the average age for a springer is 12.However keep me posted, I would not want to see that lovely boy put to sleep and if i cant have him I know of others who might! Thanks for your help Christine, in a time of great sadness I hope we will be able to offer a home to the right chaps or chapesses!Ben
Christine Animal
I understand you would like a younger one, but I can't see any for the moment. If ever you do know of anyone for Punch, here are a couple more photos.

WJT
That is wonderful news! Punch looks like such a lovely dog, it breaks my heart to think he has been in rescue for 2 1/2 years. I can only imagine how much he will love his new family.
