Quarmby
I have inherited a goldfish pond with my new house. I know nothing about goldfish. I have been feeding them , but someone told me that you shouldn't feed them in winter. Is this true? I live in Herault (34). For the purposes of fish feeding, when does winter start here? Pads
I keep feeding my gold fish as long as they keep coming to the top and asking for it. When it gets cold is the beginning of winter to a goldfish ![:)] They will then generally stay at the bottom of the pond and not surface to the top where I guess the water is much colder. In a well established pond there will be enough food fo them to forage around in the mud for while its cold .
Kitty
It is very easy to over feed goldfish. They do not need much. A surplus of food makes the water smell and lose oxygen. My husband killed our one and only goldfish - Bubbles - by overfeeding, even though I was only away for 7 days.
