Sarahd
Hello everyone. Have just rescued a fledgling baby dove from our hairy monster of a cat. Luckily I got there just in time & other than missing some feather & missing a small piece of flesh out of the back of its neck it seems to be o.k. I think it is too weak to fly however. Being English I intend to try to help if I can. Can anybody advise me on what I can feed it - I have heard that a mixture of dog or cat biscuits softened in water & applied by a shringe to its beak is one method that should work. Also Canary seeds apparently are a safe bet. By all accounts they need very small gravel / stones to help them break up their food in the gullet.Any other suggestions? Also, is there an organisation in France, similar to the RSPCA, who could help & or treat the birds small wounds? Many thanks in advance. Sarahd
Hi Chris. Just read you message after returning from visiting a kindly local vet this afternoon who is also an amateur ornithologist. I think we are o.k. now thanks & the fledgling is now eating & resting. Many thanks for your kind offer of help but now reassured & happy. Thanks, Sarah
