Christine Animal
Someone who has gone back to England with her dogs has asked me what she should do about registering their French microchips over there.Does anyone know what you have to do please? Bernice
When you move to France and want your pet's UK microchip to be entered on the French database you go to the French vet who will arrange this. So your friend who has gone back to the UK with her dogs should go to a UK vet - I'm sure they will know the procedure for transferring the chip information.Bernice
Christine Animal
I asked about this once before and it has cropped up again on another thread. Is there anyone out there who has gone back permanently to the UK with a pet with a French microchip and who can tell us how they got it registered on the British database please? Megan le Fey
Yes, I took Utopie back with me for a six month stay and registered her with Pet-something or other. I will look it up and come back to you. It seemed to work perfectly well and I got docs. etc. for her. Will go and look for it now.
Megan le Fey
OK, found it quicker than I expected. www.petlog.org.uk and their phone number is 0870 6066751. On the registration certificate it lists the microchip number and describes it as Foreign. I was able to give the date of implant but not sure if that is a requirement. I paid something, can't remember how much but I think we were still able to eat that week.[:D] Oh, and they sent me two little collar tags with their phone number on it and the statement - I'm tagged, please scan me. Christine Animal
Thank you Anne. That seems to confirm what I managed to find out on the other thread. It's not the same as France as there seem to be three different databases for the chips. So I suppose you can just take your pick! Megan le Fey
Oooooops, I didn't see that one [:P] [:D]. I see you found Sully's.When we registered Utopie with Petlog, I was of course, most concerned about finding her if she was lost and as there is not yet a legal requirement to microchip animals in UK I don't suppose one is compelled to register a pet there at all, 'tho I think that it is really, really important for your pets safety to do so. Christine Animal
Yes, I think the difference comes from there and most importantly that chipping is not yet obligatory over there. But it seems things may change. They will soon be catching up with us! [:D]Compulsory dog ID microchips plan
