Lautrec
Is there any need to approach the Marie for permission, if we wanted to convert part of our overlarge lounge, into an extra en suite bedroom? It would not entail any changes to the outside of the property!
Wicce
Hi. Usually it is only when you alter the outside appearance of the house that you need to approach the Mairie for planning permission. If your house is a "historic" building you will also need to ask if you can do the work. You should of course advise your insurance company of the change in the number of your rooms.Mary
Val_2
If you wish to alter the internal layout of your house which is already used for habitation, then no permission is required. However, change of use from say, a garage to living space is. If there will be a change to the exterior (more windows/door required) you will need to submit a Déclaration de Travaux.
