Swissie
Made me cry - so beautiful and moving. And yet, I would never put a cat of mine through all the probably weeks and months of pain to get there in case of such massive injuries.
Jo
Amazing how well Oscar coped!! One of my cats had a problem with his hips, at 18 months they started to crumble, the vet said they could operate to remove the head of the femur to create a false joint, it meant him being caged for 4 months and two operations, my initial feeling was similar to Swissie, a lot of suffering for an uncertain outcome, but my vet was convinced it would be worth it. He put up with being in a cage with very bad grace, having always been an outdoors cat, but his recovery was fantastic and he was able to enjoy a full and satisfying life for another14 years, no sign of any problems with the joints in all that time, and finally succumbing to a heart disease inherited from his dad, the local tom!
