Judie
Does anyone know how I can register my french animals' microchips here in the UK? I've looked at Petlog but they seem to imply from their site that the only microchips that can be registered are theirs.
cooperlola
PETrac will add newly imported pets to their database, Judie (see "Moved to the UK" near the bottom.)
Judie
Many thanks.I really think it's a bad show that the UK doesn't have a national database. If your animal goes missing (as one of ours has) I'm sure not all the agencies, individuals, vets etc will use a particular database such as PETrac to find an owner. segonzac19
Hi there - to register your French microchip in the UK I would advise you to get in touch with Identichip. You can get their details from the website identichip.co.uk or write to them at Anibase, PO Box 33 YORK YO19 5YW. If you enclose all your details, chip no, and pet details they will put the information on their database. This applies to microchips from anywhere in the world. Simple! And they're very friendly and helpful !
Judie
I've now been in touch with Petlog who have added my cats' details to their database and they are local to me so the animal wardens etc in this area are more likely to use them rather than another company.Thanks. cooperlola
I agree about the national database, Judie. Did you find the missing moggie?
Fay
Judie - see the post about the French cat found in Cosgrove, MK - maybe it's your missing chap??
cooperlola
I hope so Fay. Did you find him/her?
Fay
Yes, sadly not the same cat... hoping that both pairs of cat-and-families get reunited soon.
cooperlola
What a shame. I'll continue to keep everything crossed then.
Will
Well, we now know that the system works. We have just returned through the thick snow from collecting the wandering cat (Judie's, not the other one) from a nearby dog warden who was able to trace the microchip. cooperlola
Oh woopee! I was getting cramp in my bits!Seriously, what good news. And as you say, great to see that the system does what it should. We have now had 3 cats here which have wandered into our home with no way of tracing the owners. An object lesson.[:)]
