JandM
I am taking my dog to France for the first time later this month. The passport is all organised, so all I have to do is choose a French vet for the tape worm check before returning to the UK.A slight concern is that I won't be able to find a vet in my area (Agen and southern Lot et Garonne) who is familiar with the passport scheme. I'd be interested to hear others' experiences. Is the UK pet passport system widely known about in France outside the main ports. If not, how best can I make clear what I want?ThanksJames
HoneySuckleDreams
on the bumf you have been given for your pet passport is a bit at the back with something about the worm test, it might even have the heading Ecchinococcus but I can't remember exactly what it says. Just ask the vet for the stuff and then get them to stamp the proper place and sign it. Edit: actually it's not a test is it, they need to be given a dose of something to kill any worms they may have, which is why you can't do it on the day you travel back
Pommier
Don't worry about the vet not knowing the system; it's not a UK Pet Passport, but a European one which applies throughout Europe. Here's a link to the rules http://europa.eu/travel/pets/index_en.htm
