Nicky France
We are currently going through the process of buying a property in Brittany. We were told by the estate agent to expect a "completion" date of about mid-November. It is now the end of November and we are told that what is holding the process up is the attainment of the certificat d'urbanisme on a barn attached to our property. No-one seems to be able to say when this will be issued and it would be nice to have an idea so that we can get things moving here (currently living in the Netherlands). Anyone know roughly how long it takes for this certificate to be issued (in Brittany)? Any information gladly received! Many thanks,Nicky.
Nick Trollope
I'm afraid it depends entirely upon the circumstances. If a C d'U has to go to Baitiment de France (e.g.) then they can take forever. In theory, a C d'U can be passed within a few days. The last one we did took 3 months ( B de F). Try chasing the Maire - it passes his/her desk first.I assume that the granting of the Certificat was a clause suspensive in your Compromis de Vente. If so, there is not much you can do, apart from chase & wait.
Ssc
Our C de U (in Creuse) was applied for mid August, as part of the compromis. We have just heard that it has been granted, but that the notaire won't receive official confirmation for another two weeks. That makes 4 months. Add another few weeks onto that before the acte can be signed.Look at it as an introduction to the normal (slow) speed of French systems Tony
Nicky France
Thanks for the info. I guess I will have to get used to this sort of bureaucracy as I am hoping to move to France next year!!Cheers,Nicky.
