Clyde
LAST EDITED ON 11-Nov-03 AT 07:33 PM (GMT)I've been listening to my wife chuckling, whilst doing her French homework, at some of the translations offered by her English/French dictionary. Can someone please recommend a really good dictionary that we can buy either in the UK or in France? (We move to 24 in three weeks!)Yes, I have used the search engine for an answer but I could only find a few vague references to dictionaries.Any help may spoil the fun but will hopefully provide more accurate sentences!ThanksClydeWhoops! I've just noticed how I've spelt 'French' in the subject heading - please don't tell the missus.
Suvienne
I bought the Hachette-Oxford compact (only weighs 1.25kgs!)over here in France; 1450 pages, more than 260,000 translations plus a section on the French constitution, European Union and even how to write a French CV! It's been a great help in the last year; I would have been lost without it.Sue - 86300 TRICO'UTURE tricouture@tiscali.fr
Merteuil2
I second the Oxford Hachette, if you need to do more than buy baguettes it's indispensible. There is also a concise version, which is good and probably quite a bit cheaper.
