school voting

I have at last worked out what the voting system for parents d'eleves is, so thought I'd share for those who like me found it a mystery!

There may be several lists of candidates to chose from, but at our local schools we only get one list.

You either accept the list and vote it in, or you don't.

If you accept the list you put it in the white envelope, which you put in the envelope with your details on so they can mark off who's voted and who hasn't.

If you don't want the list then you send in the little white envelope empty.

You can't pick and chose - it's the list as a whole you have to vote for, and anything written on it negates your vote (it's counted as an empty envelope, ie a 'no' vote)

You shouldn't write anything on the envelope that the voting slip is in.  If you've done that then your vote will be counted as spoiled.  It should be put in a second envelope which has your name address and signature on it.

There has been a good explanation of the system on the 'other side' here

that's what I said! You have to put the list "as delivered" into the blank envelope, then that into the envelope that identifies you.

It was very confusing round here because we only had one list to chose from, and no-one knew what ee were supposed to do! In the UK one is used to having a list that says "mark n out of the n names given" but here we have to not mark anything or not put anything in the envelope in the other envelope...
