Moving to France

We are a couple looking to move to SW France, (possibly Bordeaux area) we have a boy 10 , who is just about to sit his 11+ exam and a girl aged 6, we have a concern regarding the children fitting in with the education system , I think this applies to the boy more so than the girl.

We have read some of the post which have been very informative and helpfull, could anybody be so kind as to informing us of the options in that area.

Many thanks

Hi, we moved to Dept 47 for the beginning of the school term with four children, age 4, 6 and 10 (nearly 11) and 16.  The three younger ones all go to the same school and have fitted in very well, despite their lack of french.  They are having extra french lessons at school as well as at home, and although they have had difficulty in communicating, things are improving.  Playtime is the same, regardless of language barriers, and the french children are very helpful.  The main benefit for me is no more school runs, the school bus picks up in the morning and drops off at night, no more struggling for a carparking space at the side of a busy main road!

Let me know how they go on.
