Has anyone here taken the bac as an independent student? any info?

I'm a recent high school graduate from the U.S and i'd like to take the French Bac (L series, if that helps) and go to school in France.  I'm having some difficulty figuring out how to do that, not only just where to take the test but how it works and where I could get preparatory classes. I have all the qualifications I need to go to school in the U.S and I heard that universities in france will accept a foreign equivalent to the Bac, is this true? even if it is I would still like to take the Bac. Has anyone here encountered an issue like this?

all information in regards to how the bac works (which subjects are required, point system, etc) , studying abroad and applying to french universities and specialized schools (such as an art or buisness school) is appreciated. thank you.
