The application has been going on for many months. Now the UK has asked me to get a Form E401 from the french authorities stating that i don't recieve any child benefit from them, i have had no luck at the CAF they say they don't have this form and have sent me to the maire??? i'm not sure why.please can anyone tell me what i need to ask for and do these forms E401's exist in france, are they called something else??The Uk can help no more till they recieve this so i'm stuck any help much appreciated
NormanH
An E401 is a Certificate concerning composition of a family for the purpose of the granting of family benefits. In the old days of the "certificat d'état civile" ( a certificate of marital and general family status) they were issued by the Mairie, not by the CAF.Perhaps you need to go to the service of 'Etat civile ' in your Mairie.. snowy
thanks, that must be why he was sending me to the maire, now i know what to ask for
NormanH
The old certificates aren't issued any more, but that should give them an idea along with the name E 401..They may ask for your 'Livre de Famille' which English people don't have.It is basically a copy of all the family birth/death/marriage/divorce certificates etc, and if they ask for it they may demand that they be translated into French..It's a nuisance but once done it saves time in the future.
