Losing touch with my son if we move to France

Grimaud dreamer, as your son is so young and you can work from home, you are probably in a better position than many in giving it a try. As if it does not work out for any reason and you decide to return to the UK, it is not going damage your son's education at such an early stage.

If your partner is in secure employment, then I guess there is a risk to giving that up, if it would be difficult to get a similar job again.

Cendrillon's advice to rent before you buy is very sensible and reflects what many other posters have recommended in similar threads over the years. Property buying costs in France are much higher than the UK, and you therefore don't want to find yourself in a position of having to sell within a year or two, as it could be difficult to recoup your investment.

As the saying goes "Try before you buy"!
