Nice work if you can get it: The Inspectors who inspect nothing

The 'Cours des Comptes' ( a bit like the Audit Commission) which was presided over by Phillipe Séguin until his sudden death last month, severely criticised the naming of Inspectors to the Academie of Paris.

Normally this job entails inspection of schools etc in the education sector, but that job in Paris is done by regional Inspectors, leaving the ones in Paris with nothing to do for the average salary of €4,500 a month.

In addition they are named by the President, Prime Minister or Minister of Education and need have no qualifications.  The report says ironically that this doesn't matter too much as it can't do any damage as they do nothing.

They are able to do other paid work at the same time..
