Trailer Tent/Caravane Pliante needs a Carte Gris?

Hi all,

We're planning to buy a Trailer Tent or as they're called in France a Caravane Pliante.

if we buy a used one, does anyone knows if they need to be registered or need a separate Carte Gris if they stay below the 750 kg?

I searched the archives but couldn't find any info.

We might be traveling to the Netherlands as Trailer Tents (called Vouwwagens or Vouwcaravanfor any Dutch reading this) are much more popular there and buy a new one there as they have much more choice and higher quality and are about 2000 Euro's cheaper since they're not so popular here in France. After all getting the best price for goods is what the EU is for.

I was wondering if we could just buy one and take it to France or if it does need registration here and we would run into all kinds of bureaucratic trouble.

Trailer tents do not need separate registration (carte gris), provided that they are under 750 kg, and should show the towing vehicle's number plate.
