Steveandmarie
Is anyone aware of French MOT standards relating to engine noise levels?I ask this as a fellow Land Rover diesel owner has raised concerns. This question relates to older land rovers which have very little or zero soundproofing fitted; do we need to buy soundproofing kits before moving over??CheersSteve. Stephenlemmon
There's no noise measuring for the MOT (controle technique) as far as I have seen. Obviously if there is wear that's causing the excessive noise then this is something you could be picked up on. If you're going to register your car and have to go through the whole MINES / DRIRE process then the police will want to check the noise level which means driving past them (accompanied) at full throttle in 3rd gear while they point their device at you. It's still a fairly easy test to pass though unless you've got cherry bombs fitted. All the more reason to get a full homologation certificate for France before you bring the car over.
