millstamm Posted September 28, 2004 Share Posted September 28, 2004 We will be moving to Lessac, near Confolens (16) permantly in May 2005, and have found that there are not many secondhand mopeds for sale out there. As the mopeds in France all seem to have no number plates...........do they have to be registered .....like in England !!. We are wondering if it would be ok to bring a couple of mopeds with us and just take off number plates, but obviously get insurance etc. I know that if we bring our car with us, we have to get in registered in france etc..........but is it the same with mopeds !!!Any help greatly appreciated Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Mopeds here have to be specifically type-approved and I guess that you will not be able to get (compulsory) insurance on a UK one. Since 1/7/04 all mopeds in France have needed registration - existing mopeds must be registered by 2009 (?).There are plenty for sale around here (22) - and judging by the rate at which the local yoof sling 'em up the roads around here, the turnover in s/h machines is high....
