overmonnow
Hello,Trying to decide what to do about our car...We have a 1998 RHD Ford Ka which is worth no more than £2K. It has served us well but is getting a little tired now. Given the cost of immatriculation as well as the potential cost of the controle technique (if things are found to be wrong with the car) do you think it is worth bothering? We have been given a quote for a 365-day green card with a Lloyds insurer which seems very reasonable (less than our current insurance!) but to get value for money we would need to hold on to the car in France for a year and then either bring it back to the UK to sell or at that point re-register it (I understand we have a year in which to do this after the car is imported). The general consensus in books we have read seems to be that if the car isn't worth very much then we shouldn't bother re-registering it in France. What do people think?! Look forward to hearing from you...Alistair
Iceni
Amber - I am somewhat confused as to the relevance of the selling price of the car. Is it reliable, will it last another 5 years for not much for repairs ? If so re-register in France - check with DRIRE etc to find out what will need to be done to your car and make a decision. Unless the cost of immatric is enormous keep the Frod.John
